In the days before and since the government shutdown, the media have suspended their usual practice of making politicians pay a price for using rhetoric laced with violent images. The reason for this suspension, obviously, is because it is Democrats using it to gin up hatred against the GOP.

Today, Thursday, there was a shooting near the White House and Capitol Hill. Reports are that the suspect, a woman, was killed and a police officer was injured.

Here is a list of the violent rhetoric from Democrats in just the past week or so. This troubling list includes politicians and members of the media:

1. PRESIDENT OBAMA - GOP 'putting  a gun to the American people's head'

Just a few hours before Thursday's Capitol Hill shooting, President Barack Obama accused Republicans of putting a gun to the heads of people to win the shutdown debate:

“You don’t negotiate by putting a gun to the other person’s head, or worse yet by putting a gun to the American people’s head by threatening a shutdown.”

--

2. REP. GEORGE MILLER - GOP engaging in 'Jihad'

“So when you were on a jihad against Americans’ access to health care, shutting down the parks wasn’t a problem,” Mr. Miller said on the House floor on Wednesday.

--

3. SENATE MAJ. LEADER HARRY REID - 'Tea Party Anarchists'

--

4. HOUSE MINORITY LEADER NANCY PELOSI - GOP are 'legislative arsonists'

--

5. TOP WHITE HOUSE AIDE, DAN PFEIFFER - GOP have 'a bomb strapped to their chest … list of ransom demands'

--

6. WASHINGTON POST 'Ways to Punish Congress … Line 'Em Up and Shoot 'Em'

--

7. MSNBC's CHRIS MATTHEWS - GOP are 'hostage takers'

--

8. DNC  - Phony video of Republicans as kidnappers holding the American economy for ransom:

--

9.  'TIPPY-TOP DEMOCRAT' - 'Time to punch [Republicans] in the nose'

--

10. PRESIDENT OBAMA (again) - Republicans are threatening 'to burn the house down simply because you haven't gotten 100 percent of your way.'

--

11. TINA BROWN GOP Donning 'Suicide Vests,' Boehner a 'Rallier of These Crazy People'

--

In the immediate moments after news of the Capitol Hill shooting broke, the New York Times wrote a tweet connecting the shooting to the ongoing "fiscal crisis."

I'm by no means applauding GOP behavior. But honestly, the dems are behaving worse. Threats, comparing the GOP to terrorists behaving like a bunch of sissies. Grow the hell up, put your big girl panties on and go to work.
