Seems people don't like my views

And in turn will try to silence those views. This is an issue in America today. We have drawn a line in the sand and have effectively segregated ourselves. If you are not on "our" side then you are against "us". Each side vilifies the other while making it seem that they are in no way at fault for the issues that have arisen in the past years.
Then there are people like myself who stand in the middle and wonder why the US has gone bat shit crazy.
Extreme views from either side have become an issue today. From te left we have a leader who ha said time and time again that he will not negotiate with his own people. But he will negotiate with other countries while seeming to ignore the issues he is causing here. We har a majority leader in the senate who has snubbed his nose to anything but his way. Communication with the left has effectively been shut off.
But that isn't the only issue here. The right doesn't to get where they are the issue. Try have been hyper focused on one issue in the US and a small minority if them took out government hostage so that their demands would be met. The speaker for the house has effectively lost control of his own people and is being dictated by that minority.
If our fore fathers could see the atrocious behavior of both sides of the aisle they would be appalled. Many of them came from very different backgrounds and view points yet they were able to put together a country that was founded on liberties for everyone. Our Constitution is very clear on every aspect of how Anerica should run and operate but we have been so busy arguing with one another over which side is right that we have lost sight of what makes America strong. Working together despite our differences and realizing that each side has something of value to offer.
Now, I know many will simply read my title and jump from there without reading the OP. some will also report it an have it taken down as has been done with one of my posts. You may not like what I have to say but I will say this, calling for people to stop arguing and work together to fix our il issues isn't a bad thing. If you think by is you are probably part of te issue.

The answer to your question is a resounding YES.

It sounds like you think our Congressmen and Senators go to Washington and learn all kinds of new things that are above our heads, and then it is their job to do whatever they think is best. Absolutely not.

I get emails from my Congressman two or three times a week sometimes, letting us know what is happening. And in his emails, he asks questions, and we have a chance to respond by voting a poll. This is what guides his decisions while he is in D.C. THAT IS HOW IT WORKS. I'm sorry, but I don't know how to put it any simpler.

So you believe that an elected official is supposed to vote with his constituents in mind, no matter what, even when he knows things that they may know, and so knows that it would be better for America as a whole, to vote his heart, knowledge and conscience? I believe that when they take the oath to serve, they make a vow to ALL of the people of America, not just the ones who voted for them. I seriously don't understand why this is so hard for everyone. I believe that once they take office, it is their duty to do what is best for America as a whole, not just what is best for some.

I see that. It is so sad that many, many Americans are as uneducated. It is damaging our country. These people (Gludwig and those who believe like her) are describing a tyrrany, and they don't even realize it. It's scary.

She is a very nice person, who does not understand how Politcs work in the least.

Quoting Kathy489:

Ok, now I understand that you have been misled somewhere. A lot of the politicians must feel that way, too, and that is what is wrong with D.C. and the reason why so many Americans are angry.

What you say is absolutely NOT what is supposed to happen. Again, we live in a REPUBLIC. Maybe that is what confuses some people. They don't understand what a republic is or how it works.

Assuming a politician is honest, (and that is rare in Washington, but there are honest ones in our home towns) he would be campaigning according to what he believes to be the best course of action. The people listen and vote accordingly to send their elected representatives to D.C. If we agree with what he believes is the best course of action, he goes to D.C. to represent us. If we don't agree with him, we vote for someone else. It is a government FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE.

The problem is that we have too many politicians doing as you described. They campaign on one thing, get our votes, and then go and do their own thing. It is wrong, and that is why so many people are up in arms. That is why the Tea Party was formed. It is a rebellion against what has been happening, and it is the voice of the American people trying to get back to the roots of what they believe in after having been deceived over and over again by the people they thought they could trust.

Does that make sense.  :-)

I am not trying to argue, but I am not sure if you are really confused about the government process, or if you simply don't believe in our system of government BY THE PEOPLE, as obama does not, and you are one of the ones trying to change it. He would like to see us go the way of socialism because that is what he believes in. The American people do not. Cut and dry.

I don't understand what this means. The elected officials are, indeed, supposed to represent the people who voted for them. That is the way the system works. This is a republic. We elect people to represent us. And it is not a select few, or else they wouldn't have gotten elected. They won by the majority of the votes in their districts. They are supposed to go to Washington to represent their districts. Please let me know if I am misunderstanding something.

Quoting gludwig2000:

I agree with what you have written. It is wrong, imo, to try to shut down the governemnt to get your way. Our elected officials are to work for every American once they are in office, not just the select few who have voted for them. This fighting must stop, but ya know, so many people don't care what effect this has on our country and her people, as long as they get what they want. It is government for the people, not just some of them.

Look, I am a conservative, pro life and your views don't upset me.  You are not a name caller(I am).  Liberals, started it first by typing in silly comments, but hey, I don't care.   I will always be a republican and I know my history.  I have always been a republican since age 14 yrs., I saw what the hippies were doing and it wasn't good.  I was a kid, when I would see vietman soldiers being spit on, watching others kids crying because their father would be coming home.  I saw civilian teenagers making fun of us military kids, for not being hip.  Sorry, I have no respect liberals, my personal opinion is they stick their finger in wind, and whatever is cool for the moment that is what they do, no principals.  Do not worry, you are not nasty to people, just keep posting your opinions.

LOL I am figuring that out.  I just have decided to not respond.

Funny that there is a name for what she does.  I am really starting to figure out this group dynamic though.

When your more moderate Republicans are coming out and saying they are willing to vote on a clean resolution bill to open the government back up I would have to say you are wrong.  Boehner is allowing the Tea Party to control him and the house.

Quoting Collier3:

The right is not being controlled by a minority. They are doing what we voted them into office to do. Most adult Americans do not want the health care law, or at the very least they want the individual mandate to be put off just as the rest of the law has been for employers, until we can make sure that this is what is best and get it going without issues. When a party says we will give you everything else for your government to run (as repubs have) but we ask that you not push this thru until we can work on it, you take it. You do not say all or nothing like the dems have been saying.

Boeher is not representative of most republicans in the general public today. We have moved on from being moderate, moderate republicans are independents. We like what is being done and support those who are standing up to dems and their bullying ways.

And I would say you are in the minority here.  That is what I find sad that the views of a few are what is holding this government hostage.

There is no bite. I have yet to see her prove one single thing she's insisted were facts. Just an online blowhard. Insulting everyone who disagrees and refusing to back anything she says up. Makes one wonder why you are so impressed with her, like a little cheering squad.

Still waiting for your proof that I play the partisan bullshit y'all thrive on.
