Dr. Chaps: Gays will force you to let them have sex in your house

Thursday, October 24, 2013 13:25 EDT
Chaplain Gordon James "Chaps" Klingenschmitt (YouTube)

Former Navy chaplain turned anti-LGBT crusader Gordon “Dr. Chaps” Klingenschmitt sent an email to his supporters attacking the Employee Nondiscrimination Act (ENDA), a federal provision that would provide workplace protections to LGBT people.

According to Right Wing Watch, Klingenschmitt warned in the email that under ENDA, the federal government will “jail the Christians who refuse to celebrate gay weddings” and “bankrupt Christian employers.”

Klingenschmitt went on to warn that the rights of homeowners will no longer count if ENDA is passed and that people will be forced to allow anyone of any orientation to barge into their homes and engage in any form of coitus they like. As evidence, he cited that case of a British bed and breakfast owner who refused to allow a same sex couple to stay in his home as guests.

The couple sued and won, alleging discrimination. According to “Dr. Chaps,” this means, “the militant gays essentially demand ‘let us have sex in your house, or we will kick you out of your house.’”

Earlier this month, Klingenschmitt warned that militant gay activists are being given “unlimited power to punish, intimidate, and threaten Christian business owners” and that “(t)hey’re coming for us, people. This is no joke. This will happen to YOU if we allow ENDA to become law. Sign a petition to Congress today, to stop this nationwide anti-Christian ‘discrimination’ bill from becoming law.”

The basis of what he's saying is true - but it's a bit lost in the way he says it.

Absolutely there is concern on whether government will use gay marriage as an excuse to deprive some people of their freedom of religion - whether it is against churches or businesses who allow for gay marriage but choose personally not to promote it.

Tolerance is supposed to mean people can disagree. Suppression means financially or legally assaulting someone for their dissenting beliefs.

It is not necessary to tolerate discrimination because it's someone else's "opinion".  Example:  a person hates Jews and decides they will not allow them to frequent their establishment.  This is illegal and intolerable.

A bed and breakfast (should this happen in America instead of England) is a public accommodation business.  They have to ensure they follow all state and federal laws.  If they chose not to allow blacks to be guests, or Jews, it would be illegal based on current law.

In some states if they disallowed gays it also would be illegal based on state law where sexual orientation is a protected class (federally so far it isn't).  In other states because of the lack of federal protection it wouldn't be illegal, just immoral and despicable.

If you open a bed and breakfast in a state that disallows discrimination based on sexual orientation, you must be prepared to serve all comers.  If you are not willing to do so, you should not open a public accommodation business, or move to a state that allows you to be discriminatory in that manner.

At any rate, no one is going to pass a law that makes your house a free for all, allowing anyone to barge in and have sex on the kitchen floor without your say-so.

I promise.

There is a big difference between what he is saying and the instance cited. A bed & breakfast - they have opened the house up to paying customers. That isn't "barging in and partaking in all kinds of coitus." And let's discuss coitus acts - there isn't anything a gay couple does in the bed that a straight couple wouldn't. So if coitus is this guy's true issue - then he should promote B&Bs that only allow one person to a room. This is ridiculous whoever this guy is. He needs to just man up and admit he is afraid of people who have different sexual likes than he does.

I can't help but find it amusing how so many on the right wing side spend more time thinking about gay sex than most gay people. I guess it's okay for straight folks to come to your bed and breakfast and have whatever kind of coitus they want to have. We would be so much better off if folks spent more time worrying about their own lives and let others do the same.
