GOP Senator Calls Reid ‘An Absolute A**hole’
Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) laid into Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D) while speaking at a fundraiser Monday in New York, calling him an “absolute a–hole,” according to the New York Daily News.
“There’s no comity with Harry Reid. I think he’s an absolute a–hole,” Coburn said. He was reportedly asked about the state of civility in the Senate.
A source who was at the fundraiser confirmed Coburn’s remark to TheBlaze.
Coburn named other Democratic senators that he has good relationships with, including Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.). Coburn has expressed a level of contempt for Reid in the past.
“If you want to ask why the Senate isn’t working, there’s one reason; it’s called Harry Reid,” Coburn said in 2012. “Incompetent and incapable of carrying on the leadership in the Senate.” He later issued an apology for his choice of words.
For his part, Reid is notorious for speaking bluntly. On more than one occasion he has remarked on his disdain for overweight people. He has also complained about “smelly” tourists in Washington, D.C., and reportedly told a TV news technician that his breath smelled.
