Huge Movie Star Shows He Couldn’t Care Less What Hollywood Thinks in Revealing Chat on ‘Constitution and the Principles of Liberty’

Ask actor Vince Vaughn about his political views and he’ll proudly tell you he’s conservative – and he doesn’t really care what Hollywood thinks.

In a telephone interview with Adam Carola, Hollywood A-lister Vince Vaughn made a strong declaration about his conservative principles. When Carolla asked him very directly, “Do you count yourself a conservative?” Vaughn did not hesitate or stammer, he merely replied, “I do, yeah…I mean I’m very supportive of Ron Paul, but I’ve always been more conservative than not.”

During the three minute interview Carolla tried to see if Vaughn’s conservatism was a product of a conservative upbringing. Vaughn talked about growing up in Chicago, with a father who came from a working class family that leaned more democratic.

However, the actor also stated, “As a guy that worked very hard, and sort of put himself through school and stuff, he was more conservative, for sure.”

Carolla claimed that he was not conservative, but he “has been made conservative by the direction the country’s been going.”

When Vaughn was asked if his conservatism runs along the lines of fiscal issues, social issues or both, he mentioned Ron Paul, the Constitution, and a lack of trust in government.

“I really like Ron Paul…I think that when you get older, you just get less trust in the government running anything. And you start to realize…when you go back and start to look at the Constitution and the principles of liberty, the real purpose of government is to protect the individual’s right to, you know, sort of think and pursue what they have interest in,” Vaughn replied.

The “Wedding Crashers” star also addressed the Hollywood bias against conservatives in the industry, but also maintained, “I can disagree with people but not have it be the forefront of all conversations.”

Vaughn has also teamed up with TheBlaze TV to put out “Pursuit of the Truth,” a reality show searching for the next great documentary filmmaker. Vaughn’s Wild West Productions partnered with Go Go Luckey Entertainment and Glenn Beck’s media company to make the show a reality. You can watch past episodes of “Pursuit of the Truth,” here.

You asked a question, rather than quoting both replies I responded to both in one. I never said or implied any of what you said. There ARE people in this world that will follow the beliefs of their favorite Hollywood icon, for reasons that escape me. I absolutely agree with you those individuals have issues.

Jumping on a political bandwagon, I meant akin to following the latest craze. The "so what" of that, is people aren't thinking for themselves.

How can you not know what that means? That he's not jumped on the Obama bandwagon.

To YOU they're merely entertainers, but some people look "up" to them, in a way I can't understand. But they do it.

I love Vince Vaughn, and really could care a less what his political affiliation is.  Hollywood are full of enterainers, andthat is all they mean to me.  Make a movie or a great show, that is all I care about:/  He has ever right to believe what he wants.

there are people in ever political era that jump on bandwagons.  So what?  IMO, some  believe that just because people like or voted for Obama that they are incapable of thinking for themselves or are not smart enough to  make informed decisions, but that they know all or not following party lines if they vote for a Republican.  I will never understand that logic.  Honestly, who cares what other people think of his political ideals:/  I do not, it matters not how he votes.  If someone looks up to or at  a famous person simply because they are famous, then they have some issues to work through:/

but that is your opinion of why people voted for Obama.  You cannot lump people in a nice little package simply because that is not how you think or feel or how you voted.  I do not think that Obama is a fad or a craze or anything like that.  He ran for President of the United States and won, if that was the case would voting for Romney or Bush have been a craze also?

Not all of them, I never said EVERY person that voted for him did so because their favorite celebrity did. I don't understand why you're defending Hollywood. All I'm saying is that there ARE people out there who follow their favorite celebrity, in more ways than just reading about them in People Mag.

You disagree with that?

I am not saying you did but the way you word things you are lumping and that is not something you can do. Honestly I think we agree but on different levels sure there are people who cannot form a coherent thought on their own but there are many others that can. IMO I really do not hold much of anything in how or what a celebrity thinks or votes or does unless it I in a movie I want to see.
