Homophobic RNC Committee Member Accuses Gay Colleagues Of Manipulating Health Benefits

WASHINGTON -- An official associated with the Republican National Committee made head-turning comments at a GOP holiday party last week, accusing gay individuals of pushing health care reform because they die earlier in life.

Speaking at Berrien County Republican Party Holiday Reception last Thursday, RNC Committee member Dave Agema said that while working with American Airlines, he repeatedly witnessed gay colleagues claiming AIDS victims as lovers, just so they could get health care coverage. Via the Herald Palladium, a southwest Michigan paper:

[Agema] has taken flak nationally for his stance against gay marriage, but he said he doesn't mind because while working at American Airlines, he saw firsthand what happens when benefits are extended to gay people.

He said American Airlines workers would say a person with AIDS was their lover so that person could get medical benefits.

"Folks, they (gay people) want free medical because they're dying (when they're) between 30 and 44 years old," he said. "To me, it's a moral issue. It's a Biblical issue. Traditional marriage is where it should be and it's in our platform. Those in our party who oppose traditional marriage are wrong."

Multiple requests for comment and clarification made to Agema were not returned.

Agema has long been a vocal opponent of the gay community. In April, Agema likened being gay to being an alcoholic, encouraging radio show listeners to help members of the homosexual community "get out of it."

"So if you really love someone, if you really were concerned about someone, if you saw your friend, for example, dying of alcoholism would you just stand quietly by and watch it happen?" he asked during the "Washington Watch Live with Tony Perkins" radio program in April. "Or would you speak up and say, 'hey, I want to help you.'"

Dennis Lennox, a Republican strategist and party delegate from Michigan's Grand Traverse County who has been a vocal critic of Agema, told HuffPost he expects the Michigan Republican State Committee to discuss the latest comments when they meet over the weekend.

"Dave Agema's hateful rhetoric and unabashed bigotry have no place in our Republican Party," Lennox said. "Republicans will not win a national governing majority until Mr. Agema's extremist behavior is no longer tolerated."

The Republican National Committee did not return an immediate request for comment.

Silly article.

The writer was gay-baiting, and the gay employees were manipulating their health benefits to try to cover non-dependents on their health policy. Otherwise known as fraud.

Remember Republican National Committeeman Dave Agema? You know, the guy that likes to who likes to repeat defamatory lies about gay people on his Facebook page? Earlier this year Agema denounced “filthy homosexuals” and proclaimed numerous false stories regarding homosexuals such as 43 percent of gay people “admit to 500 or more partners in a lifetime,” “78% of homosexuals are affected by STDs,” and “50% of suicides can be attributed to homosexuals,” among other falsehoods.

Agema pops up for another round of hot comments about gay marriage.  At a Berrien County Republican Party Holiday Reception, he reiterated his opposition to same-sex relationships. According the Herald-Palladium, Agema was a pilot for American Airlines for 27 years and claimed that American Airlines workers would say a person with AIDS was their lover so that person could get medical benefits.  Quoted by Michigan’s The Herald-Palladium

“Folks, they (gay people) want free medical because they’re dying (when they’re) between 30 and 44 years old.

To me, it’s a moral issue. It’s a Biblical issue. Traditional marriage is where it should be and it’s in our platform.

According to The New Civil Rights Movement, while in attendance at a Republican Party Christmas Reception on Thursday Agema said,

“Those in our party who oppose traditional marriage are wrong. I stand for traditional marriage, no homosexual ones. The family unit is the basic unit in society. When you tear the family apart, you tear the country apart.”

Several requests for clarification from Agema were denied. If only Agema would issue a list of the gayest jobs, in descending order of gayitude, life would be easier if we all knew who to hate the most while dispensing the hate more proficiently.

On a side note, last week, Agema posted more inflammatory remarks to Facebook: “Lie after lie, incompetence and a socialist agenda.” Obama “needs to be impeached.

This story proves the level of pathological hatred it takes to be a Republican

You know what's disgusting? My husbands half brother's and sisters  deceased father's gay lover, 'adopted' his gay lover so that guy could inherit what was rightfully the kids.

Yeh, it IS a moral issue, when people are lying to get something.

Because straight people never do that

Only straight people can already marry and hae these things taken care of

In most states gays cannot

But yea because you know someone (if you are being honest which I doubt)

That justified these disgusted bigoted comments?

Lol you people

I don't lie. I've never been called on a lie, or busted lying. How about you?

Yeh it's a true story. My husbands mother's first husband.

He and his lover owned a nudest colony-camp ground in upstate NY I think it was called 'Jone's ponds' but they sold it and Robert died not too long after that, his lover got another lover and had to 'adopt' him to give him everything in his will.
