Remember, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, together with Tom Donohue of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, are committed to seeing Common Core education standards strictly enforced.  They will be running campaign attack ads against anyone who opposes “Common Core”.

The written formal method has been honed over hundreds of years to take the minimal writing possible.

When someone is trained in using it, it is quick and reliable.   It is a good end point for someone to arrive at.

The question is whether the best route to arrive at that end point, is to train someone by rote in that method and nothing else.

Dear frustrated parent.

Jack jumped from 127 to 107 when he should have jumped to 117 and then to 111.  I highly doubt that you have a degree in EE.

I love common core. My children were taught this way from day one and have done very well. The problem is some parents are too stupid to get it. Like the parent above.

I  bet  you  make  your  daddy  proud

I'm with the parent. This looks way to complicated for such a simple problem. And how in the heck are they going to apply this to more advanced math?

Just out of curiosity, Sally, did you notice before or after you posted this that the "Electronic Engineering" parent answered the problem wrong?

:: STRAIGHT OUT OF COMMON CORE CURRICULUM ::

Apparently the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. constitution states that citizens must register firearms as a condition of ownership. Did you know that?

In what way is it wrong?
