Teen girl kicked out of prom because dads said her dress conjured ‘impure thoughts’

A 17-year-old Virginia girl said she was kicked out of a prom for homeschooled teens because she aroused “impure thoughts” in some adult male chaperones.

Clare Ettinger wrote a post on her sister’s blog about the incident, saying that her dress met the event’s dress code but was asked to leave anyway.

The Richmond teen said one of the women who organized the prom checked her dress and she showed her that it met the “fingertip length” requirement.

But the woman reminded her to keep the dress pulled down so it met the requirement.

The 5-foot-9 girl, who said her dress looked short because of her height and long legs, said she was amused to find herself surrounded at the prom by shorter girls in much shorter dresses.

But Clare said she and her friends noticed a group of fathers ogling and talking about her from a balcony above the dance floor, which she said mildly disgusted the teenage girls.

The same chaperone who had checked her dress then pulled her aside while she swayed to the music and talked to her friends.

The woman told her that some of the fathers who volunteered at the event thought her dancing was “too provocative” and could provoke “impure thoughts” in boys at the dance.

Clare told the woman she had not been dancing, but the chaperone insisted her dress was too short and kicked her out of the event.

The teen’s friends left with her, and prom organizers promised to refund their ticket purchases.

So far, only Clare had her money returned.

In the guest post on her sister’s blog, Clare asked Richmond Homeschool Prom to refund her friends’ tickets and “issue an apology for kicking me out of my senior prom because their husbands felt as though my body was something they had a right to control.”

“I’m not responsible for some perverted 45-year-old dad lusting after me because I have a sparkly dress on and a big ass for a teenager,” she concludes. “And if you think I am, then maybe you’re part of the problem.”

The prom’s Facebook page was deleted after an avalanche of negative comments were posted there.

Impure thoughts. Aren't daddies daughters boyfriends until marriage. This whole kooky religious culture is a farce.

As soon as I saw the word 'homeschooled' I knew this was going to be a clusterfuck.

Is there irony that the same families who want to protect their children from the outside world have patriarchs who act like this?

Good grief! If I were married to one of those men, they'd be in major trouble.

I would divorce my husband if he was having "impure thoughts" about a 17 year old. I cannot imagine.

This is such sexist bullshit.  The MEN have dirty thoughts, so the WOMAN is blamed and kicked out.  Probably to feel shame for the rest of herr life.  No 17 year old should miss her prom because a few dirty old buggers thought dirty things.

for fucks sake

Wow. That poor girl. Being taught that it's her fault men can't control themselves, and being lusted after by nasty old geezers. And those poor boys, being taught that they don't need to have any self control, that it's all the girls fault. What a sick, sick situation.

Not sure why everyone is shocked that fathers who associated with a christian home school organization would be lusting after a teenage girl and why you are shocked that these people blame that Teen age girl Victim.

How many bets on how many of those sick fuckers take part in the christian purity ball bullshit.
