They're forgetting one fundamental flaw:everything our government touches gets destroyed. No way in hell do i want them to have MORE freedom in the education department than they already do.

No one twisted anyone's arm to go $50,000 to $100,000in debt.  Often this debt is accumulated attending those 'top' schools, when a more local college would give them the same education for half the money.

Exactly.  The more gov't control over upper education, or education in general, the more you will see the gov't deciding who studies what.  We need lots of teachers....well you may only study education, not the business degree or engineering degree you want.

The cost of higher education in general, including state and even community colleges has skyrocketed.

This at a time when the job market is more fiercely competitive than at any other time I can remember.

So what would you suggest?

You have not looked at tuition for college lately....State schools are expensive.

Our two biggest state schools cost almost as much as many of the private schools.

Yet the same people that lose their minds over -

Big tobacco, big pharmaceutical, Wall Street, The Koch brothers -

Don't say a word about Big Education -

Why have the costs skyrocketed - why don't those people care?

There are people who would love a permanent underclass.

They support the top 5 people in the country to own and control everything, including the job market and policies made.

Having free or inexpensive college education available to all will NOT mean that there will be "government control". THAT statement about government control reveals a lack of education .

This is an excellent post !!!

Thank you!
