Equal justice? *** edit

 just a few points.

I am not the original author, brought this to the forum because I wanted to see what the reaction would be on CM.

There are so many of you bashing this from the assumption that this is Christian post.  I AM a Christian, but there is no evidence or implication as to the belief system of the child or his family.  I made no editorial commentary regarding faith.

I am not an enthusiastic adovcate of the death penalty, but I would never say never.  If I were on a death penalty jury, there is a possiblitiy that I would vote for death, but it would have to be a huge hurdle to jump for me to do that.  I am not implying the killer of this child should be on death row.  I was not in the court room.

In general I keep my political opinions to myself unless I see something outrageous.  I don't make a secret of my faith and will defend it all day long.  I am not implying this murderer, (I call him that because he was convicted) is less than or better than another and I am sure there is a bad back story of his life, but nothing excuses his actions.

You won't recognize me. My name was Antonio West and I was the 13-month old child who was shot at point blank range by two teens who were attempting to rob my mother, who was also shot. A Grand Jury of my mommy's peers from Brunswick GA det...ermined the teens who murdered me will not face the death penalty...too bad I was given a death sentence for being innocent and defenseless.

My family made the mistake of being white in a 73% non-white neighborhood, but my murder was not ruled a Hate Crime. Nor did President Obama take so much as a single moment to acknowledge my murder.

I am one of the youngest murder victims in our Nation's history, but the media doesn't care to cover the story of my tragic demise, President Obama has no children who could possibly look like me - so he doesn't care and the media doesn't care because my story is not interesting enough to bring them ratings so they can sell commercial time slots.

There is not a white equivalent of Al Sharpton because if there was he would be declared racist, so there is no one rushing to Brunswick GA to demand justice for me. There is no White Panther party to put a bounty on the lives of those who murdered me. I have no voice, I have no representation and unlike those who shot me in the face while I sat innocently in my stroller - I no longer have my life.

So while you are seeking justice for the Brown family, please remember to seek justice for me too. Tell your friends about me, tell you families, get tee shirts with my face on them and make the world pay attention, just like you did for the Brown Family.

Thank you.

This article is trash from start to finish.  Its is full of so many assumptions, implications and outright falsehoods that it demeans this poor baby's death.

Just the fact that its so poorly written with an obvious agenda from a 13 month old's perspective who calls for the death penalty for his killers is nauseating.

This 13 month old is far from the youngest homicide victim.  Babies under a year account for close to 50% of all child homicides (average about 4 child homicides a day) , usually at the hands of their parents.

This crime is sickening.  I'm glad they were caught and convicted and off the streets but the idiot who tries to turn this into a some sort of racial thing only looks a fool and so do you for posting it.  They were tried and convicted and I'm not sure what else people think is needed.  Nothing will bring back this poor baby.

For the record, I can't stand the whole hate crime label.  If the amoral thugs who shot this baby did it because he was white, because he cried, because they don't value life, they were frustrated at the mom....I don't care.  Its all equally wrong.

I am black and my prayers go out to precious baby Antonio West and his family.

No one says black people do not commit crimes. If this family went to Al Sharpton he would have helped the family and spoke out against these boys.He has helped in white cases as well as blacks.Sharpton is a good man and is for civil rights for ALL.

Rev Al,pres Obama, mentors and moms like myself  are always speaking out to black youth about staying out of trouble.

Yet as a black person I can not be responsible for every black person that does wrong in this world. To throw all black people into one stereotype and category is wrong.

Here is the issue...

The issue in Ferguson is that there are years of racial tension between the community and cops. There has been many unjustifiable murders of young black males by officers.

If the white community and police officers think that all black males are like this teen that killed precious Antonio West we have a larger problem at hand. The bigoted idea that all black youth are thugs, racial profiling,as justifying murder.

Not all black males are thugs worthy of execution over a cigar. Not all black males kill white babies.

We have to stop with the black generalization hate and trigger happy cops.We have to protect victims like baby West and Brown who was executed. We all have rights.

I want cops to put the thug away whether black or white.I want cops to protect and serve all races of people. Not just make black youth target practice.I have a son too.I dont want him to be a target just because he has a real nice tan.

More divisive BS- take it elsewhere.

Arrested and convicted says it all.

These  teens were charged and convicted for their crime, no one tried to sweep it under the rug. Had they tried to cover up the crime so the boys could go free, I'd agree. Just a real shitty job at trying to make something about race that obviously isn't.  **eye roll**

So because these teens were not given the death penalty some feel they were not prosecuted and held accountable properly?

So much for those good Christians who claim to follow Jesus and are so much better than others.

Trying to turn this in to something it wasn't and should not be is despicable.

These 'Christians' in this group make me ill.

No wonder so many of our young are reluctant to claim one denomination over another.  They don't want to be seen as ugly and soulless as many 'Christians' are.

If they think they will find their way to those so called pearly gates, they have their directions all backwards.

Disgraceful.
