BREAKING: Two NYPD Officers Shot In The Bronx (VIDEO)

AUTHOR JANUARY 6, 2015 1:12 AM

Less than a month after NYPD officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were fatally shot in Brooklyn, two NYPD officers were shotin the Bronx on Monday night, while investigating a robbery.

Here’s a report of the incident, via NBC:

The shooting occurred near East 184th Street and Tiebout Avenue around 10:30 pm – just hours after a news conference was held to acknowledge crime levels reaching a record low.

The suspects, described as two Hispanic males in their 20s, were driving a rental car. According to a police official, the undercover police officers were trying to pull the rental car over in the moments before the shooting. The official said:

“They were attempting to pull a car over. The car fled.”

The suspects then crashed the car “and fired at the cops” before fleeing on foot.

According to law enforcement, one officer was shot in the back while the other suffered a gunshot wound to his arm. The officers were rushed off to St. Barnabas Hospital for treatment with non life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, they are expected to recover.
