Democrats Protest Democracy

2016-11-10-afb52ae6_large.jpg

Yesterday, America awoke to the unexpected reality that Donald Trump was president-elect. Many Americans felt some combination of relief, excitement and optimism after being fed up with the last eight years of Washington elitists foisting their socialist agenda upon the country. But most Democrats expressed shock, dismay and disbelief as they saw their grip on national power evaporate overnight.

What do leftists do when their candidate loses? Protest, violently if "necessary."

From New York City to San Francisco, Boston to Austin, DC to Seattle, Chicago to Portland, angry and disgruntled leftists spilled into the streets, holding up signs and chanting, "Not my president." In Chicago, hundreds gathered outside Trump International Hotel and Tower shouting, "No Trump! No KKK! No racist USA!" One young woman holding up a sign that read, "Enjoy your rights while you can," said, "I'm just really terrified about what is happening in this country."

In Oakland, the protesting crowd grew to 6,000 and began rioting by smashing windows and setting fires so that law enforcement was brought in to quell the situation. Neighboring San Francisco saw hundreds of people marching and chanting "Donald Trump has got to go." One woman brought her five-year-old son to the protest and said through tears, "I don't know how to explain to him the state of the world. I want him to understand that there aren't all evil people out there." Well, she certainly could have chosen a better venue to seek to reinforce that ideal.

What is truly ironic about leftist action and rhetoric is the fact that what they claim to fear and decry is the very thing they practice. By labeling those who disagree with their point of view as bigots and racists, they are displaying the very hate they claim to be combating. And it's truly ironic that the "Democratic" Party has the most trouble adhering to and practicing the ideals of "democracy."

Actually, they are practicing their constitutional right to a peaceful assembly ( although some are not so peaceful...).  In that right, they are protesting a candidate and now president elect that they believe is unfit to be POTUS and does not represent in their belief, the values and beliefs that a person that holds the highest office represents.

Now you can argue again and again they are whiny babies, blah blah blah... That when the GOP lost to Obama, Clinton, Carter, etc, the republicans did not hit the streets in protest. It is a choice to protest or not. That the republicans did not en masse protest an election result is their choice. You may not agree with their point of view, and that's fine.

So you see, the people protesting the elction results are adhering to the ideals of democracy- freedom of speech, right to peaceful assembly/proetest/etc ... These and more are in the constitution. Afterall, our republic IS a democracy.

The violent protest to nonviolent protest ratio seems to be fairly high.

That's not great.

Every where I go, this is what I am hearing people say, as they stand in line at a store, or sitting having a cup of coffee.  People are disgusted with the violent reactions of people, who didn't get their way, and showing their true intolerance.
Freedom of speech or protests, doesn't give people the right to vandalize the properties around them, which belong to someone.  It doesn't give them the right to interfere with other peoples daily lives who want to go about their responsibilities.  I think all these people should be arrested and pay fines for what they do.

YES! I also think it should be a crime to burn the American flag if you live in this country. If they hate this country that much then they're more than welcomed to leave.

Disagree there.

If you own the flag you can do whatever you want with, we already have too many laws and regulations restricting use of ones own property.

Give me a break.
Sure , some people are being destructive and they're all wrong , violent and inappropriate. . That is true .
I object to the Patriot post lies about Democrats and this administration , President Obama . They're disgustingly bigoted. And it seems you are too.

I don't know B.J.     there seems to be some code concerning desecrating the flag, whether we own it or not.

18 U.S. Code § 700 - Desecration of the flag of the United States; penalties

Current through Pub. L. 114-38. (See Public Laws for the current Congress.)

(a)
(1)
Whoever knowingly mutilates, defaces, physically defiles, burns, maintains on the floor or ground, or tramples upon any flag of the United States shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than one year, or both.
(2)
This subsection does not prohibit any conduct consisting of the disposal of a flag when it has become worn or soiled.
(b)
As used in this section, the term “flag of the United States” means any flag of the United States, or any part thereof, made of any substance, of any size, in a form that is commonly displayed.
(c)
Nothing in this section shall be construed as indicating an intent on the part of Congress to deprive any State, territory, possession, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico of jurisdiction over any offense over which it would have jurisdiction in the absence of this section.
(d)
(1)
An appeal may be taken directly to the Supreme Court of the United States from any interlocutory or final judgment, decree, or order issued by a United States district court ruling upon the constitutionality of subsection (a).
(2)
The Supreme Court shall, if it has not previously ruled on the question, accept jurisdiction over the appeal and advance on the docket and expedite to the greatest extent possible.

(Added Pub. L. 90–381, § 1, July 5, 1968, 82 Stat. 291; amended Pub. L. 101–131, §§ 2, 3, Oct. 28, 1989, 103 Stat. 777.)
