Trump’s approval rating drops below his disapproval rating

International Business Times

For the first time during his presidency, Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen behind his disapproval rating, according to a Reuters/Ipsos tracking poll published Wednesday.

Just 46 percent of Americans have approved of the job he's doing, according to the survey. Half of the country disapproved of the job he's doing. "The data indicates that all the furor around foreign policy is not playing to what the public perceives are his strengths, which remain the economy and jobs," the polling team said in a press release.

Sixteen percent of Americans said the economy was their top concern, while 14 percent said their main priority was healthcare and 13 percent said terrorism. Fifty-three percent of Americans approved of Trump's performance regarding jobs and 52 percent approved of his handling of the economy, according to the poll. The survey was conducted from Friday through Tuesday, interviewing 1,744 people online and has a margin of error of 2.7 percentage points.

The first three weeks or so of Trump's presidency have largely been defined by controversy. An executive order temporarily banning travel to the U.S. by people from seven Muslim-majority countries sparked widespread protests at airports and other places across the country.

Trump's administration has also been dealing with the blow-back surrounding the resignation of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. He apparently lied to Vice President Mike Pence and others about discussing U.S. sanctions enacted by President Barack Obama on Russia with an ambassador for the Eastern European country. The controversy came amid the assessment from the intelligence community that the Kremlin worked to get Trump elected and new reports this week that alleged the then-GOP candidate's campaign had regularly communicated with Russian officials.

Meanwhile, Russia has allegedly deployed a new cruise missile despite it being prohibited. It has also dispatched a spy ship spotted along the East Coast. North Korea has also tested Trump by test-firing a ballistic missile.

Amid these early issues, Trump's approval rating has been low across the board. This week, Gallup found that just 40 percent of Americans approved of the job he was doing, while more than half the country disapproved. Even in Iowa, a swing state Trump won by nine percentage points in November's election, 49 percent of people disapproved of the president's performance, according to Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa survey.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 55% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-five percent (45%) disapprove.

The latest figures include 38% who Strongly Approve of the way Trump is performing and 36% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of +2. (see trends).

From the op: President Trump’s approval rating has dropped below his disapproval rating once again, with just under one half (46%) approving of the job that he’s doing as President.

They still can't handle the fact that they got stomped in the election and are desperate for anything they can use to discredit Trump and the Republicans. Apparently that includes false poll numbers.

I can see voicing a dissenting opinion, but to lie and be deceptive- I think there should be more integrity than that.
