Well I had my anatomy scan today at 19 weeks. I found out the baby is a girl, but that doesn't really matter because we received terrible news. The baby has lots of fluid in the brain and very little brain tissue...has serious heart abnormalities, has shortened limbs, and club feet. They also noticed the nose was broad and flattened. The Dr. recommended termination. He said one of these defects could potenially looked into further for a possible "solution," but the massive defects across body systems most likely means a serious chromosomal abnormality/syndrome. We go back tomorrow because DF wasn't with me at the appointment, but basically he said the baby would either not be viable or have no quality of life.
I am so lost right now. Just devestated. I was so excited about this appointement to find out if it was a boy or girl...I had not worry or indication that there was anything wrong. I'm in shock. My daughter is so extremely excited (she's 5), the thought of telling her absolutely kills me more than anything.
