of BREECH births!! I've been following this UK midwifes blog, not only is she awesome but, she has TWO videos of home breech births. One is a footie birth (feet first) and the other is a frank (bottom first) and these alone will make you do two things:

1.Cross you legs and go "OUCH!!"

2. Be in total awe of the female body and what it is capable of.

That was amazing! I have a question though, how safe is it to birth a baby that way? I have never had to deal with a breech baby so unfortunately I haven't done the research behind it.

As far as I know, it's as safe as any regular birth, the only problem is you are more likely to suffer a more serious tear. I think.  The frank breech just made me gasp.

The issue is with the cord. In a normal birth where the head comes out first, the head fits into the pelvis and birthcanal snugly. The cord has a very low chance of getting caught between baby and momma. Whereas with breech births, the butt or feet don't seal off the canal as well and the cord can get caught and squeezed between baby and momma in canal. If the cord gets caught, baby loses air supply. Not good.

Chiropractor are great for turning breech babies. I think with twins, one will always be breech because that is how they fit in the womb. If my baby was breech even after going to the chiropractor, I am not sure if I would deliver at home. I would have to discuss that with my midwife.

Ah! Thank you.  I think to deliver a breech at home I would have to have a midwife who had done it before or attended natural hospital/birthing center breeches.  Definately not something you want your midwife freaking out about.
