Where is everyone from and what are the homebirth laws there?
I live in Pittsburgh, PA. Homebirth is not illegal but it is not legal either in PA. Midwives attend births here but they aren't allowed to do anything that is considered practicing medicine. So no oxygen, no pitocin for after delivery, etc.

I'm in NY and from what I know, it just became legal around when I had my daughter. I'm not sure about everything else. Though my midwives did come with a ton of stuff.

Idaho. They recently outlawed all midwives except cnms and cpms. Breech and vbac may be delivered out of hospital but multiples may not.

Georgia. My lay midwife can have oxygen, etc. She cannot order lab tests or do ultra sounds. She checks my hearrate, bp, and urine for proteins/sugars.
Doctors will not back up midwives which sucks. She suggests seeing an OB for a few visits to be a patient just incase something comes up during the pregnancy that would disqualify you from a Homebirth. I didn't go see an OB but I did see a chiropractor who fully supports homebirths. He is able to order blood tests but not sure what kind. I will see for next baby.

I'm in western NY. It is legal but there is a lack of homebirthing midwives where I live. I am in a rural area between to bigger cities, but there is none close enough to attend my birth so I am left with a hospital birth or UC.
