You guys may know the legend of Lilith ... She was Adams first wife who wanted to be equal to Adam. God wasn't having that so he cast her out, where she vowed to take revenge on babies... She said she wouldn't hard any baby with Ann amulet over it's crib..
So began the tradition of hanging an amulet over a baby's crib.. With which the mothers began singing Lilith begone.. In the hebrew language it is similar to lullaby which is where it is thought the word originates

In other legends she is goddess of one of the under worlds.. And in others chief demon....

Anyway these days she is a symbol of the empowerment of women :)

Not sure if a believe any of it but certainly interesting!

I had not heard this. Very interesting. I did that (hang an amulet over the baby's bed) but only because my grandmother told me that I should. I never knew the reasoning behind it.

Yes! I actually love this story, but I sang the hell out of those lullabies after I first heard it! Lol!

I find Lilith to be interesting to say the least.

There are also legends that claim her to be the first vampire as well.

Lilith is refered as 'the screech owl' in Isaiah 34:14. Interesting she's not mentioned in the bible until then...
