I agree discrimination exists and I am very liberal in that sense but that doesn't make me feel guilty about who I am? Guilt is a negative emotion and I refuse to feel guilty about my skin color

LOL you'll hear me in the back sighing loudly.

Quoting yourpinkone:

I'll give you complimentary admission to my training when I'm next asked to facilitate it in the the northeast.

You're welcome.

Quoting GoRed:

Wait, what?  Since when does a whole room stop and stare when a non-white walks into the room?  And honestly, the Hispanic community is growing quickly, and starting to prosper, this message will be irrelevant in 50 years.

No way. I just skimmed the "take action" part of the website. it says we have to admit our racism and that all white people have it. It says that! That is not an interpretation. OMFG, that website is horrible! And it says that only after we admit our racism and feel guilt and shame, can we tackle the problem of white privilege. I dare you to go read it.

Fuck no.  It will only make me angry.

I'm white and I'm privileged. for now.

but I don't feel guilty about it.

and I agree with someone above that this will be moot in 50 years. I read recently that for the first time, in 2011, nonwhite births outnumbered white births in America.  So, how long can the privilege be sustained by a numerical minority?

This.

And I do not feel guilty. I also do not feel superior nor "privileged".

I work in a minority majority city (does that make sense?) and have felt the looks of others, especially while driving through the area. That is not privilege to me.

I wouldn't say I feel guilty, but I would say it does affect me in a way. My fiance is Mexican, making my son 50/50 - White/Mexican. He is only 6 months old and I already have fears about him being discriminated against when he's older. I would never want him to feel less than. I know that the people directly surrounding him would never make him feel that way, but I can't count on society treating him how I want them to. I plan on raising him to appreciate both sides of his heritage. It just makes me sad to think about it.

Quoting juicebox.:

No, I do not have white guilt.  Yes racism is alive and well.  That's all I can really say on the subject.

OK, I don't feel guilty or superior, but I know I'm privileged.
