**Update: So I finally got a call from the pediatric neurologist today (he was off yesterday)...he said he watched about 10 seconds of the video and instantly knew that my son is in fact having seizures. He believes they are epiletic seizures and we are starting him on meds tomorrow morning. In 2 weeks we will have an appt. with the doctor so he can answer our questions and see if the medication is working. I feel like I have a million questions to ask but of course I couldn't think of a single one while I was on the phone with him...I was just so relieved that he finally believes that he is in fact having these seizures.
Again thank you all for all of your kind words and advice!!!!!
This is a video of my son who is 10 months old. He has been having these seizures for months now and we are still trying to get answers from his doctors. I was able to record part of it today per his doctors instructions and I've already sent the video to the doctor but I will not hear back from him until sometime tomorrow. I am wondering if any of you have ever seen anything like this before?
My son has been to the ER 3 times already, admitted into the hospital once, has had an EEG, EKG, ECHO and other medical tests and his doctors have not been able to give me any answers except "normal breath holding spells" but this just doesn't seem "normal" to me.
I know that I never post, I am mainly just a lurker and old BBC member but I would really appreciate any advice or information any of you can give me. This is just a 55 second clip from the video because I couldn't get the entire thing to upload. The whole "episode" lasted for three and a half minutes. Do any of you know what is going on with my son or have any of you seen something like this before? I will call the doctor to follow up on my e-mail first thing in the morning but I'm really looking for some piece of mind here. TIA!
OMG. That is so great that they finally believe you! Seriously, I know how it feels to have medical professionals just push your opinions or worries aside and say you are overreacting when you know that you are not. Thank goodness he will be starting to get the help he needs. I hope this brings you and your ADORABLE lil boy some amount of relief.
OMG, that is so scary. I'm glad he's finally getting help.
What meds are they putting him on? 3 1/2 minutes is a long seizure! Does he turn blue and everything because he's not breathing?
I'm so glad he's getting on meds, hopefully it's one that will immediately work for him
glad they listened to you finally!... are they going to try to figure out what triggers them? or is he too young to do that with maybe.. what meds did they put him on? .... are they going to another EEG to see what sort of seizures? My son had Nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy.
my son used to have really long seizures too.. and one after another.. he had 2-3 grandmals a month usually.. it was terrible.
Quoting MsDoofenshmirtz:
Just FOR ME I've always told coworkers to not call an ambulance unless a seizure lasts more than 2 minutes, that's my comfort zone, and to call my DH or my mom. Luckily I've only ever had one grand mal that lasted like 45 seconds, mine are all abscence and last just a few seconds.
I'm so glad he's getting on meds, hopefully it's one that will immediately work for him
