My leg hurts so bad I can barely walk. My usual stretch and ice combo doesn't seem to be helping. Advice?

Take an anti-inflammatory and if you have a neoprene sleeve, or something tight to wear or wrap it with. Keep icing.

There are stretches that are supposed to help too. I used to run cross country in high school but that was a long time ago and I wasn't very good LOL.

I read an article on Jezebel or something awhile ago about it. Maybe I can find it.. BRB.

get in a hot shower, put a towel down so you have some traction, stretch your calve muscles by planting the ball of your foot aganist the tub wall and lean forward while the hot water runs on your legs

or if you're me, take a sauna.

its caused by too much lactic acid in your muscles you need to stretch more after your cool down, if you can avoid it, dont run on cement

My kids got them in HS while on x-country. Coaches had this advice

1. Quit drinking soda. It makes shin splints worse
2. Take MSM, max dose
3. Get new inserts for your shoes
4. Take an anti inflammatory such as Aleve, Motrin
5. Ice! Ice! And more ice
6. Stay active, they will go away...my kids always called bs on that one lol.

The ones I get are from where I broke my leg/ankle. They act up like 3-4 times a year.
