i REALLY dislike "pre-cooked" food!
last night i bought a ham, thinking "yeah ham later this week would be soooo good! yes!"
i get home & SO say's to me, "you know this is already cooked?"
me,
*GRUMBLES!!!* .... *sigh* "ugh, ok."
so we made it last night...... lets just say super dry ick!
oh. bummer.

I don't believe I've ever seen a raw ham at the grocery store.
I found it curious that I wasn't sure. I cook almost everything from scratch. I did a google search and found almost all hams are cooked in the US. Of course, now I'm wondering where to find a raw ham.

Typically I'm not big on pre-cooked foods... Ham usually works for me, though. I just wrap my crock in tinfoil, pop the ham in, and set it on low. Usually turns out fine. I'd be so disappointed if it was dry! Sorry you had that experience, Kimmy! :(
A fresh ham is also called leg of pork. Tasts like roast pork after being cooked, because that's what it is. Hams are smoked and therefore cooked to preserve them and give them their distinctive taste. Even though some hams are pre-cooked they still have to be cooked before eating. Only fully cooked hams can be eaten without being cooked further. Read the instructgions.

Quoting emilyrosenj:Ham is always pre cooked. I use hame all the time and mine is never dry unless I overheat it. Other foods, it depends on what it is.
