Father's Day is always about the grill. We know we'll be cooking steaks and ribs, because we always do, so now we're really thinking about sides.
This Father's Day we'll have three killer sides - herb buttered corn on the cob, spicy cooked baked potatoes, and steamed balsamic and sea salt asparagus. Here's how you make each:
Herb Buttered Corn on the Cob - First make your butter mixture. Mix one stick of softened butter with the herb of your choice. We like chives or garlic. Next husk your corn and liberally spread butter on all sides. Wrap in tinfoil and place on the grill. Cook until tender.
Spicy Cooked Baked Potatoes - Wash and scrub your potatoes as usual, then brush the outer skin with olive oil. Dust each one with cayenne and cumin. Wrap in tinfoil and place on the grill. Cook until tender.
Steamed Asparagus - Wash and cut asparagus as usual. Toss with olive oil and balsamic. Then, sprinkle with sea salt and cracked black pepper. Wrap everything tightly in a tin foil pouch and steam on the grill until tender.
Moms, what sides will you be serving at your Father's Day feast?
Our sides were macaroni salad and a variety of chips. I love the corn idea above, I will be doing that soon! I'm wondering if I should wrap each ear individually are do them all together?
We didnt do a bbq for fathers day this year. Instead we took him out for lunch. We also brought his parents out for lunch as well. Noone had to cook, and we all had a great meal. It was great.
We had baked potatoes and salad with our Father's day steaks.
