My daughter made a dessert similar to this for the 4th:

Fruit Dessert for 4th of July

Watermelon
Blueberries
Strawberries
Red seedless grapes
Raspberries
Large Container of Cool Whip

(use whatever kind of fruit your family enjoys, but make sure they are red and blue)

You can mix all the berries and fruit together or you can layer with the cool whip.
Or just mix berries and top with Cool whip. What ever you prefer.

You can also make a watermelon basket and fill with the fruits and top with whip cream.

We used strawberries and bluberries, YUM!

Did you make a red, white and blue dessert?

I do. I dip strawberries in white chocolate and then the tips into blue sugar.
