For the kids I have to remove the pit with a knife. For me? Spit 'em.
We have two cherry trees and use a tool like this to pit them. After that, we freeze them by laying them flat on a cookie sheet, then putting them in freezer bags or else vacuum packing them. Freezing them flat keeps them from being frozen in one big lump in the bag...keeps them individual if you want to only take out a handful for a smoothie, for instance.
I like to have them premeasured in the correct amounts for cherry pie...simple to take out a bag from the freezer and thaw and mix up a pie.
i hate them so i do not eat them lol
