Had a craving for something sweet and wanted to use up the last of almost empty canisters in the cupboard.
Discovered a cup of pecans and a cup of Ovaltine left in the cannister.I spotted a recipe on the OVALTINE canister, so I gave it a try. Came out good, yummy w/ice cream.
... Wrap the leftovers up in some Reynolds wrap and freze for school/work snacks....
Ovaltine Aloha Brownies
Brownies:
1 Cup Flour
1 Cup Margarine
2 eggs
1/4 tsp. Baking soda
1/2 Cup Rich Chocolate Ovaltine
1/3 cup Macadamia Nuts
2 Tbsp. Sugar
4 oz. Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips
Frosting:
1 Cup Rich Chocolate Ovaltine
1/2 Cup(1 stick) unsalted butter cut in to 4 cubes
3 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 1/2 cups shredded coconut (optional)
Brownie Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
W/beater combine margarine, eggs and Rich Chocolate Ovaltine until creamy.
In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients add Rich Chocolate Ovaltine mixture and beat together Stir in chocolate chips.
Spread batter in a greased 8x8 inch baking pan. Bake for 25 minutes. Cool brownies for 45 minutes in the pan.
Spread Rich Chocolate Creamy frosting over the entire pan of brownies with a spatula.
Sprinkle with shredded coconut(optional, cut in to squares and serve.
Frosting Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine Rich Chocolate Ovaltine, confectioners sugar and butter into dry ingredients. add other ingredients and beat on high speed until Rich Chocolate Ovaltine is completely blended with sugar and the mixture is thick and creamy
It comes out a bit moist, but works well if served w/ice cream. Not your standard brownie.
