I was so pleased to be picked for a CafeMom Influencer Program. I was even more pleased when it was for something I already have expressed interest in - a slow cooker liner. I use my slow cooker pretty often, so I thought this was totally something worth trying out.
When I got the liners, the directions seemed simple and easy. I was a little unsure about how well it would work, though. The liner felt pretty thin, especially for a piece of plastic that was supposed to withstand heat for 6+ hours straight.
I made barbecue chicken in my slow cooker. It's a simple recipe - about 5 different ingredients thrown in together. Four hours into the cooking, I had to pull apart the now-cooked chicken.
I was a little concerned since the bag was turning black on one spot, but it seemed to be holding up alright, so I let it go.
We served our chicken from the cooker lined with the bag and everything went alright.
My husband was a great helper and cleaned the kitchen for me...but the bag ripped when he tried to remove it from the cooker. Clearly, that defeats the whole purpose of the concept.
I am a little disappointed that it didn't hold up on my first test, but I think I'll go ahead and try it again next time. I'm not sure what caused it to rip exactly, but surely that's not the norm.
