Today is the first day of archery season here. My husband is out and has 2 doe tags and 1 buck tag.
Do you eat deer meat? If so do you have any special recipes you use?
When my husband gets a deer we always have it made into mostly bologna with cheddar cheese in it. My husband and children both like the tenderloin, which I do not. We all eat deer jerky.
I love deer, love to use it in place of beef in recipes
Last year my husband made deer tenderloin in the crockpot (and even though I do not normally like it) I have to admit it was good =)
We have never really used it in replacement for beef but I am sure using it in like beef stew or something would be good.

we use it ground in everything, chili, spaghetti, lasagna, etc.

I bet my husband would love deer chili. I will have to get him a recipe =)

I had a venison burger one time, and I loved it. I was in middle school, and we were visiting extended family in Missouri for Thanksgiving. The day before Thanksgiving, one of my great-uncles arrived with freshly ground venison patties. He had killed and processed the deer himself. I can't remember how it tasted to me, but I do remember how much I enjoyed it. I haven't had venison since then, but I'd love to have it again someday.
