1. No canned foods
2. Fresh veggies

Depending what you are frying, you danger similar results by baking with shoo at a high temp. I make nuggets and French fries this way. Cut fries, toss in evil to coat, lay insingle layer on cookie sheet and bake at 500. Flip when brown.

I rarely use salt.
