Ice Cube Trays - More Than Just Plain Old Ice

Summer time calls for more ice. You just need to have it on hand for those cold beverages that are meant to keep you hydrated and cool during those extra hot days. But regular old ice can become boring. Here are a few ways to pump up your ice for a variety of drinks. Simply add:

Raspberries

Blueberries

Mint

Lemon, lime or orange rinds

Thin slices of jalapenos for Bloody Mary's

Peaches

Half citrus juice, half water

All are made with the sample principle. Use a clean ice cube tray. Fill each cube up half way with water. Place ingredients in the center of each cube. Freeze half way for about two hours. Take out the tray and add more water. This ensures that the add ins are centered in the middle of each cube instead of floating at the bottom or top.

Love those ideas!  We just get ice out of the ice maker on the freezer.
