Back to School Breakfast Shortcuts Part 1

Back to school time is full of mixed emotions in this household. On one hand we're glad to get the kids out of our hair and back into school. On the other hand, we are lamenting the end of lazy, fun filled summer days.

But nothing gets your back into the grind of things quicker than a bustling, busy school morning when it's a race to get the kids fed, washed, dressed and out the door.

To make life a little easier, I try to make breakfast time as easy as possible. Here are a few short cuts that I like to take.

Put out bowls and cereal choices the night before

Make a batch of hard boiled eggs for the week for a quick protein packed breakfast

Try single serving oatmeal cups

Chill protein shakes for a quick meal on the go

Peanut butter sandwiches aren't just for lunch. Try it for a protein packed breakfast.

Moms, how do you get your kids to eat a balanced breakfast during the school week?

1 mom liked this

when they were in school, my kids loved egg sandwiches.  It doesn't take long to fry an egg, and I could do other things while it was cooking.  Egg sandwich + glass of juice suited them fine.

I'm a morning person so I'm up an hour before them and get breakfast ready.

Those are all good ideas. =)   I try to have easy, on the go nutritional foods for them to grab and eat.

On the weekends I like to make waffles or pancakes and I make each and toss in the freezer for the week ahead. I do this with muffins and breakfast burritos too.

My kids' school serves free breakfast for everybody every morning so often they just eat fruit here and then eat there.  Sometimes they want full breakfasts here though.
