Getting the Job Done: How to Use Your Food Processor

For a long time, I thought I could get away with just a good cutting board and extra sharp knife. But, as I started cooking more and trying longer recipes, I came to the conclusion that I needed a tool that made my job easier. The solution was a quality food processor.

While you might be reluctant to add another tool to your kitchen arsenal, this one is a definitely must for serious chefs, especially those that like to get in and out of the kitchen as soon as possible.

Here are several clever ways to use your food processor to save time.

Make your own baby food.

Mix dough for piecrusts or graham crackers for cheesecake crusts.

Slice and chop vegetables and fruit.

Chop or grind nuts for recipes. You can even smooth it into nut butter with a few extra pulses.

Create delicious salsas and sauces

Moms, what do you use your food processors for?

I use my mini food processor/chopper to chop nuts, cut up onions, puree veggies and fruits.

Making cheesecake - add ingredients - process for 3 min - done!

Mixing meatloaf - add ingredients - pulse until ingredients are incorporated.

I would like it if I could leave the bottom blade in while shredding then remove the shredder blade & use the bottom blade to mix it all together.

I do like my food processor, but don't use it for many tasks simply because it is a pain to clean.  I have used mine for mashed potatoes, cauliflower, soups, etc. I also used it for baby food back in the day.

I wish I still had my mini food peep for jobs like that.  I gave mine away before we moved.

We use ours for making sofrito, baby food, and other foods that need to be pureed.
