Cookies and Christmas go hand in hand. They are easy to bake and even easier to eat. They are portable, bite-sized, hand held miracles that come in as many different flavors as people on your shopping list.
I've mastered quite a bit of cookie recipes over the years, but I've yet to use a cookie press for making those delicate butter cookies that everyone seems to crave along side their cups of coffee or hot chocolate.
But the question is should I invest in this new kitchen tool?
The answer is a definite yes, if I want to create the perfect shapes and uniform cookies.
A cookie press allows you to pipe cookie dough down a dispenser and press it through a stencil and onto a cookie sheet. There are different stencil attachments for different designs such as Christmas trees, snowflakes, flowers and more. If you like, you can use food coloring in the dough, or flavoring like almond extract. I prefer to make the dough plain, so I can add flavoring via nuts, dried fruit or chocolate later on.
I went for a middle of the line cookie press - not too expensive and not too cheap. It's serving its purpose very well!
Moms, do you like using a cookie press during the holiday season?
