New Year's Eve Sparkling Punch

Punch bowls are great for parties, leaving the hosts free to mingle rather than mixing guests beverages all night, and this punch feels effervescent and bright, a perfect drink to ring in the new year with. Cut the recipe in half if your gathering is small, or double if you're hosting a rager this year.

Ingredients:

Juice of 8 freshly squeezed lemons

1/2 cup powdered sugar

2 bottles of Prosecco

1 cup cold cranberry juice

1 cup St. Germain liqueur

6 or 7 lemon slices

Frozen raspberries for garnish

In a punch bowl, mix all ingredients together until the sugar dissolves. Float 6 or 7 lemon slices in the punch bowl. To serve, drop a few frozen raspberries in the bottom of a champagne flute and pour the punch over the top. The frozen raspberries also help keep the drink cool instead of using ice.

Do you ring in the new year with a special adult beverage?

We don't have adult beverages on New Year's Eve.

We do not have anything special. Usually some type of champagne for the toast!

I have always made a champagne punch when I host but I am headed to a friends' house this year so letting them be in charge of the drinks.  We'll just take a couple of bottles.

I love the idea of using frozen fruit instead of ice to keep drinks cold.  I am going to use that all the time now!

Yum! Chances are I won't since I'll be home alone with the kids.
