Sometimes it makes sense to celebrate the small things in life. It doesn't have to be a holiday or a birthday. What about a job well done on a math test or a winning goal at a soccer game? Those are life events worth celebrating too!

To make any evening special make the honoree choose the dinner and dessert of his choice. Whether it's fried chicken and vanilla ice cream or pot roast and carrot cake, you'll be sure to have a memorable family experience.

My mom did this for us on our special days. When I came home spelling bee champ in fourth grade, I requested enchiladas and fruit popsicles.

What would you make for your celebratory dinner?

Depending on the time of year
I like spicy grilled chicken salad
Or manicotti

Kids pick manicotti or steak fajitas

I don't know about dinner, but my DH passed another exam for his architect license (he has 5 more to go) and we got him a cake to celebrate it!  I did buy dinner that night too.

honestly, I'd take just about anything made by someone else, as long as it met my allergy requirements! :) (I'm easy to please). :)
