Healthy After School Snacks

As parents, finding quick solutions to everyday roadblocks is what we do best. So, when are kids come home from school starving, it's easy to want to let them grab something that is fast. But just because it is fast, does not always mean it is healthy.

Adding just a few extra minutes to the chore can assure that your child is getting something healthy that is both satisfying and packed with goodness.

Here are a few snack ideas that you can make in a pinch:

Hard-boiled eggs with salt and pepper

Homemade trail mix with peanuts, raisins, pretzels and chocolate chips

Peanut butter and celery (or apples)

Low calorie ranch dressing with veggies for dipping
Air popped popcorn

Homemade smoothies from fresh or frozen fruit and low fat Greek yogurt

Whole wheat tortilla roll up with jack cheese and sliced turkey

Moms, what are your favorite healthy snacks to make for your kids?

We do a lot of the hard boiled eggs, nut butter (not peanut butter) and fruit, fruit smoothies made with frozen fruit and coconut milk, fresh veggies, lettuce wraps

Usually, we have yogurt so that's what he usually eats. Sometimes, he will want a banana or an orange. Yesterday, however, he went to my grandmas after school so she gave him a biscuit and sausage.

She has yogurt a lot. Also we have a store with all kinds of nuts, seeds, and dried fruits, and we make our own trail mix. Since she gets to pick the ingredients, she eats it better.

we actually don't do snacks very often. My kids would love most of these though--especially that trail mix! :)
