Me and my son are FINALLY going on a little mini vacation to get away from everything before school starts. It's going to be a 2.5 hour drive with Hotel check in friday night and check out Sunday morning. I'm wanting to pack a little cooler for snacks and drinks. What would you ladies recommend for snacks that wouldn't be completely messy.

White Chocolate Monster Munch

Ingredients

    Adapted from Winners cookbook
  • 8 ounces white chocolate
  • 4 1/2 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 1 cup pretzels (sticks or snaps)
  • 1 cup cashews (I used salted)
  • 1 cup M&M's (I used autumn colored classic M&M's)

Instructions

  1. Carefully melt white chocolate in microwave, stirring every 30 seconds till smooth. Set aside.
  2. Combine the rest of the ingredients and slowly pour over melted white chocolate and gently stir to coat. Spread mix onto wax or parchment paper and let cool.
  3. Break into small pieces. Refrigerate to keep fresh.

All of the above are good.  Dried fruit is good too.  DH and I have a tradition of buying a can of Pringles when we go anywhere, even if it's only 20-30 miles.  It's become a family joke too, I bought a can once just to have on hand and when DH saw it he asked where we were going!

hmmm very interesting... I'm just afraid he will end up dropping some of the chocolate or marshmellows and then they would melt...
