Brussel Sprouts Au Gratin

 My dil loves Brussel Sprouts, we're making this for Thanksgiving.

Brussel Sprouts Au Gratin

Prep Time: 40 minutesCook Time: 30 minuteServings: 6

Ingredients

1 pound of brussel sprouts cut in half

3 strips of chopped bacon

1/2 small diced yellow onion

1 tablespoon of chopped fresh thyme

3/4 cups of breadcrumbs

1 tablespoon of unsalted butter

2 tablespoons of flour

2 cups of milk

6 ounces of shredded Swiss cheese

2 ounces of grated Parmesan cheese

salt and pepper to taste

Cook

  1. BAKE in the oven on 375° for 30 minutes or until the breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese are golden brown. 
  2. SERVE hot.

Prep

  1. PREHEAT the oven to 375°f.
  2. COOK the bacon in a large pot on high heat until crispy and brown.
  3. REMOVE the bacon from the pot once cooked and browned and set aside, and add in the onions and butter and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on medium heat.
  4. ADD The flour into the pot with onions and butter and stir together and cook for 2 more minutes.
  5. WHISK the milk in to the pot until combined and simmer on low heat for 10 minutes or until it begins to become thick. 
  6. FINISH the mixture by whisking in the grated Swiss cheese, salt and pepper.
  7. FOLD in the bacon and sliced brussel sprouts to the pot and then pour the mixture into a Reynolds® Bakeware 8x8 pan.
  8. SPRINKLE the breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese to the top of the creamy brussel sprouts.
