Attachment Parenting is a philosophy based in the practice of nurturing parenting methods that create strong emotional bonds, also known as secure attachment, between the infant/child and parent(s). This style of parenting encourages responsiveness to the infant or child's emotional needs, and develops trust that their emotional needs will be met.

Some practices associated with attachment parenting:

* Breastfeeding
* Extended nursing and child-led weaning
* Baby wearing
* Continued physical contact for older kids (lots of hugs, etc.)
* co-sleeping
* Gentle parenting
* Listening and responding to child's cues
* Treating children with respect and dignity
* Emphasizing and respecting individuality
