Worse thing?

What do you think the worse thing is about being a young grandma?

I wish the kids were a little older, but with the way things are now a days, she can take a month off school, have the baby and still have a private tutor come in to make sure she keeps caught up.

I guess the biggest thing I'm worried about though, is most young relationships don't last. I really hope they make it though.

Do you feel like it's ruined her life or limited her in some way?

I love my grandbabies. But yes i do think it has messed up her life. Her boyfriend is illegal, she is 21 with 3 kids ages 2 and under. She is going to struggle for a long time. She loves them and does the best for them. But neither have a job right now and I didnt want her to have to struggle to survive

I think one of the hardest parts of being a parent is watching our children struggle.

We want what's best for them, and for them not to go through what we may have, yet we have to stand back and let them flounder.

I cant say to her this is your fault. you made the bed now lie in it. The last 2 kids were birth control babies. Seems she had low hormones and the birth control upped the hormones to make her perfectly baby ready. but I LOVE my grandbabies they are just perfect... lol

I know what you mean. My first thought after *they were kidding* was - I friggin TOLD you to get on birth control!!!!

But the milk is spilled, so to speak, and they have enough they're going through, so they don't need any more bitching or negativity.

I know what you ladies mean. I had my first son at a young age and didn't want for them to ever have that feeling of not knowing where the next meal is coming from, so when my 16 year old son told me his 15 girlfriend is pregnant.....aghhg I wanted to flip out. I stayed calm and my son said Gee mom I'm surprised ur not mad. I told him I was disappointed that they didn't take better precautions but what was getting mad and yelling going to change.....nothing at all. It does worry me that they're not going to get a lot of the same opportunities that others without babies will get, but if they work hard they can achieve it.

I don't think any of us wanted our kids to get preg at a young age, because we know how hard having a baby is...at any age.  But when it does happen all we can do is be there for them, and love them just like we did before they got pregnant.  Like Tigger says, if they work hard they can achieve it!

Sometimes it can work out but in reality the odds are stacked against them.  My daughter and her bf were married the summer after the baby was born, when Janice was 16, and almost 7 years later they are still married, happy, and working hard for their future. It's not easy for them but I think they will last.
