Worse thing?

What do you think the worse thing is about being a young grandma?

I wish the kids were a little older, but with the way things are now a days, she can take a month off school, have the baby and still have a private tutor come in to make sure she keeps caught up.

I guess the biggest thing I'm worried about though, is most young relationships don't last. I really hope they make it though.

My son and his girlfriend have been together for 8 years. She had been told she couldn't have children do we were surprised. Even though the are 25 and 28 the have had ongoing court dates , brief times in jail and difficulty maintaining employment. She lost her baby in the 5th month. After that the decided to intentionally become pregnant and we have beautiful 3 month old Aliyah as a result. My son is adopted and is definitely committed to being a good dad as is the baby's mother. However the are both working part time and cannot support themselves. The are living with relatives while on a waiting list for subsidized housing. The hard part is that I am nowhere near retirement and working plus trying to be there to assist (plus I love keeping Aliyah) has required a lot of adjustment on our part. Everyone in the family is pulling together as a team and that is positive.

The saying that it takes a village to raise a child is very true in some cases. They are very lucky they have you to support them with love.

Sometimes it takes something as big as a baby to get your life together :)

My daughter and her bf (fiance) talk about getting married when she turns 16 but right now I just think it's talk.  There isn't any rush since they live together now, but if they do decide to get married I've told them I would sign for her.
