How healthy is your pregnant teen being?

Carlie always loved junk food but since becoming preg she has totally changed her eating habits.  She's been eating alot of fruits and vegetables (which she never liked before.)  I'm really proud of her, however she is a smoker and trying to give up the cigarettes has been the hardest for her.  How is everyone else's pregnant teen doing?

Mom of Carlie (15) and Courtney (8).

Yep, same with Hailey.I'm not a smoker, so it's really hard for me to bite my tongue!

It was so funny a few weeks ago, she was afraid to take tylenol for a headache because it said *adults only*. I tried really hard not to laugh. ummmm your pregnant, but not old enough for tylenol?

She also just found out she's got a problem with her thyroid and is on medication :(

The dr. told Carlie last week that as long as she could keep it at 5 cigarettes a day it won't be an issue.  He said trying to quit altogether can be more stressful for the baby.

I need to clarify...the dr did not like the fact that my daughter smokes but in her case he felt that if she could keep it at 5 a day it would be better than nothing.

DS told me today too the doctor said not to quit but to cut down.

That's basically what the dr told Carlie.  He said that for someone that is a heavier smoker the stress of quitting is harder on the baby.

Janice quit smoking completely in her 3d month, but shortly after the baby was born she started back up again.  Quitting coffee was harder for her and she cut down to two cups a day most of the time.
