When do you let your daughter decide how they want their hair cut?
When do you allow your daughter to color/bleach her hair? Any color? Or do you have stipulations?

Um, some kids respect their parents wishes...
Quoting Dayna29:I let both of my DDs to cut their hair. My youngest is going into 1st grade now. She wanted it cut in preschool so I let her. As far as hair coloring. I thought about it back and forth. DF says NO. So I guess not until maybe when they are teenagers. If they want to dye it, they are going to do it. Even if its going to be with Kool Aid like we did. My parents wouldn't let me when we were teenagers. But if its done when they weren't home or at a friends house, then what could they do? So at least I can keep them from making their hair look like crap and keep it healthy. lol
Don't be a fool. All kids will do something behind their parents back. If its hair, smoking, drinking, kissing, ect.... it doesn't matter, they will try something. It's natural it may not be that big of a deal but it will be something. They just may not get caught. Kids are not perfect.

Um no, not all kids. My parents weren't much of parents, but I did have elders whom I respected and if they asked me not to do something like dye my hair and explained to me why they didn't want me too, I didn't do it, didn't matter if the reason sounded stupid to me, it was important to them and I respected them and didn't want to upset them. My sister is 13, I'm her guardian, a friend tried to get her to dye her hair for a school event, said I wouldn't find out, she still said no, that I didn't like it and she wouldn't go against my feelings over something as dumb as hairdye.

My daughter has been choosing her own haircuts since she was 5 or 6. She has been dying her hair since she was in 6th grade. I do limit how often just to try to keep it healthy. She is normally blonde has done everything from bleach to black in the past 2 years. This past weekend she dyed it bubble gum pink. I don't mind the colors and I think it is healthy to make your own choices at this age. I wish I would have had the self-confidence in middle school to dye my hair any color I wanted and not worry about what others thought.
My DD is 4. She decides how she wants her hair cut now, which she doesn't. She is growing her hair out long like Repunzel in Tangled. Even though it would be super easier for me if we cut it shorter...Lol. As for hair dye...I think she will want to do that as a teenager. I am sure their will be stipulations to the color, but we will let her color her hair.
