Raising Confident Daughters Day 12: School Jitters
School is a hotbed of mixed self-esteem messages. During the summer, talk about friendships, teachers, social pressures and anything else that she might want to chat about. Being open and receptive to what she has to say—good or bad, small or big—can help build mutual trust and strengthen your relationship. It will also allow you to ease any fears or lend insight before the year begins.
Does your daughter enjoy school? Is she worried about anything this school year?
Did you miss yesterday's activity? Here it is! Don't forget, you need to respond to 10 of the challenge posts to be entered to win the $50 gift card! Sign up here for daily reminders.
My daughter is homeschooled, but will be starting at the local community college through Running Start this year. This will be a new experience for her, and we've been talking about it a lot. We're both really glad she's "missed out" on experiencing all the high school drama her friends seem to be going through.
This is her first year :) We just finished uniform shopping! She is nervous but she's OK. I explained what to do with bullies, inappropriate touching or language, how I expect her to behave and excel... This summer she was old enough to attend a day summer camp. I let her attend a few times to prepare us both for Kindergarten. I think it will be so helpful for both our anxieties. My baby is going to school ;( LOl.

My daughter is starting "real" school this year as she goes into kindergarten. She is a little nervous, but mostly giddy with excitement. She already has her outfit picked out (has for months) and has been searching for the perfect backpack for months!
She wants to go to school, but not old enough yet, nor am I spending a grand to send her to pre-school. I think she's looking forward to it though.
