Raising Confident Daughters Day 12: School Jitters

School is a hotbed of mixed self-esteem messages. During the summer, talk about friendships, teachers, social pressures and anything else that she might want to chat about. Being open and receptive to what she has to say—good or bad, small or big—can help build mutual trust and strengthen your relationship. It will also allow you to ease any fears or lend insight before the year begins.

Does your daughter enjoy school? Is she worried about anything this school year?

I really hope she does enjoy school as much as I did. But we've got 5 years before she starts school

She will be entering preschool next year. I have mixed feelings about it,she is a bit shy and reserved so I am not sure how itt will be for her just yet.

My daughter is worried because she will be starting high school this fall. So it is a big and scary change for her. I told her she will be fine, she is smart and friendly. It will be okay. She makes friends easily and gets along with others great. Also, all the other freshman coming in are going through the same fears. They will get used to everything in time.

My dau can't wait to go back to school. We talked about it and she is not worried about school but about having trouble making time for old friends and making new ones. I could tell she was glad to talk about it and now we will wait and see if our talk helped.

My daughter likes school and she always pushes herself to do better and join more activities. Sometimes she has so much on her plate I don't know how she does it.
