10. If you test someone, he may fail you. 

Don’t administer litmus tests as measures of a person’s love. “Testing is a sign of one’s own fear and insecurity,” says Curtis. “While opening up to the nuances of sharing your life with someone is scary, that’s also what makes love rewarding.” The keyword here is trust: Teach your daughter to trust her significant other, the strength of the relationship and herself. Remind her she was born with good instincts. That self-confidence will set her up for healthy relationships.

I'm teaching my daughters not to trust someone without very good reason, too. You don't need to test, but also don't ignore the signs. Wasn't one of the earlier tips to see how he treats other women? That is kinda a test, but not a trap. Perhaps they mean something more like, don't set up traps, but don't be fooled either.

she;s only 8 and does not have any type of crushes right now. thankfully we do not have to have any of these talks right now
