I often find myself reading the word. There has been times I wake up and my face is literally still in my bible because I fell asleep reading it. There are a few things that come along with reading a lot of scriptures...
1) When someone asks you a question, your mind automatically starts quoting scripture to you. This allows the holy spirit to work through you.
2) You become more aware of your actions.
I usually choose a verse a week to foucs on and use that verse to work on my actions. Sometimes I decide to take that verse and focus on it longer than a week.
For example, this week I am focusing on Proverbs 31:26 "She opens her mouth with wisdom and her tongue is the law of kindness"
Last week, I focused on "Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord, Keep watch over the door of my lips." Psalm 141:3
There are a few from the past too ..
One week I had.."Study to shew thyself approved, a workman needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 1 Tim 2:15 (i hope that is the right ref. i am marking this from memory so if it is not I apologize)
“I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works” (I Timothy 2:8-10)
I challenge you to pick a verse and focus on it this week and lets share our thoughts on how it affected our behavior at the end of the week. (Let's choose Saturday)
I am going to be using Proverbs 31:26 for this week. You are more than welcome to use on the verses that I put on this post as well. Let me know what verse you picked out. It will help us with holding ourselves more accountable. I'm looking forward to my week and seeing how God will challenge my focus this week to help me grow into what he desires me to be.
Today, I had an oppurtinity to put Proverbs 31:26 in action when I had a conversation with someone close to me in my life and they started talking to me about an incident in the past. I could have acted out in anger, placed blame, critized or put them down. They were already beating themselves up and it would have been a good oppurtinity to beat them up emotionally more. they also began talking about how someone they trusted hurt them. it was a perfect time and oppurtinity that the Lord had given me to put the scripture into practice. Wise and kind..thats what I knew I needed to be. By the grace and mercy of God, i was able to put my flesh on the altar and put the spirit and word into practice. To God be the glory!
I am still working on Proverbs 31:26 this week....I decided while working on this verse this week, that maybe next week, I am going to work on pride! Any of you know some good scriptures on pride?
I think I will have to do this exerscice. I am going to start today with the same scripture you are using. What a Challenge!

Pr 31 is one of my favorite passages of scripture. In another group, we recently studied Pr 31:25. It was a very awesome and enlightening study.
When I read (Proverbs 31:26 "She opens her mouth with wisdom and her tongue is the law of kindness") I'm reminded of those women in the Bible who exemplified that trait.
Unnamed wise woman of Abel's wise instruction saved her city. (2 Sam 20:19-22)
Esther was woman of strength and dignity who feared God. Her wisdom helped saved the Jews from annihilation. (Book of Esther)
Pilate's wife spoke with wisdom and faithful instruction. (Mt 27:19)
Others in her community had "full confidence" in the prophet Huldah's ability to authenticate a very important book for the king. (2 king 22:14-20).
Rahab "watched over the affairs of her household." She wisely and faithfully "instructed" the spies about how to hide and escape. She negotiated a plan that would save her life and the lives of those in her household. (Heb 11:31)
Priscilla worked with her hands too. She was a tent maker. She assisted her husband in giving Apollos wise and faithful instruction. (Acts 18:26)
Prophetess Anna's lamp didn't go out at night because she worshiped God day and night by fasting and praying. She wasn't idle, and wisdom and faithful instruction were on her tongue. (Luke 2:36-38)
Judge & Prophet Deborah wisely instructed the people of Israel. (Judges chapter 4 & 5)
Thank you so much for sharing! I loved this. I am going to study more on these women!

On another noteProverbs were written and/or collected by King Solomon, and he passed that wisdom along to his son(s). However, the wisdom of Proverbs is for both men and women. Likewise, many of the attributes used to describe the Pr 31 woman apply to men as well. Case in point, a virtuous woman's words will be wise and kind. Likewise, Ps 37:30 states that "the mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just."
