Feeling Alone

Have you ever felt alone?

Yes? I have as well.

I take comfort in this quote from Harriet A. Jacobs, " My Lord and Master, help me, my load is more than I can bear, God has hid himself from me, and I am left alone in darkness and misery"

Have you ever felt that way as well?

At some point in every Christian womans life she will feel this way when facing a difficult circumstance. Sometimes I believe the Lord allows us to feel lonely because the one we need never left. (him) Take this time to write a prayer to the Lord, to describe the pain you now feel, or have struggled with in the recent past. Know that as you pray, the holy spirit will guide you.

Ask him to help you make prayer discoveries as you are writing your prayer. This is helpful when you are wondering if God answers your prayers when you are experincing pain.

Dear God, Do you hear me when I am deeply troubled or when I am struggling? Sometimes I have a hard time praying because I am not sure if you are really listening. Lord, help my unbelief and help me build my faith and strengthen it. Teach me how to pray when I am hurting. Teach me how to come to you in difficult times and circumstances. Help me learn to trust you. Help me to know for sure that you hear my prayers. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen

When I feel like I am disconnected with God I find a quiet spot.  In my house it is hard to do.  So when I am in my bathroom I turn on my Ipod and listen to prise music.  To me it is not unbelief to feel disconnected, it is life.  Everything tries to pull our attention away from God and then things go wrong and we feel like we are alone. Sometimes we need to say to God " I need you Lord I am drowning down here" Prayer doesn't have to be elaborate or you don't even have to have your eyes close.  You can pray any where ( to yourself in the work place) and it can be short and sweet.

I have as well been in that place where the world tries to pull my attention away from God, or it feels like everythin gis going wrong, and I have had to say that too. there's times when I don't have the words to pray, so I just say, "God, I don't have the words to say, but you know the situation and you know what needs to happen and this is in your hands, so I am going to trust you." It is out of faith that I speak those words. I am not saying it is disbelif to feel disconnected, but there are times when I feel alone and I begin to doubt and question God, and as the story in the bible says he cried out to God and said, Lord, Help my unbelief. It reminds me of that song, "Savior, Savior, hear my humble cry, when others thou art calling, please don't pass me by..." Its such a great song, and there are times I feel that way myself. I love what you said about, "lord, I need you, I am drowning here!" Exactly what I needed today. Thank you Sister for sharing your words of wisdom. I often forget that I can pray anywhere, and I need to be reminded of that at times.
