On this spot in 1708, the residents of Grave's End fought a battle against the pirate Captain @. Ville Dwear (Evil doer) and his wicked crew. The battle went on for thirteen days and ended in October 31, when the citizens sank their ship. Some say the vengeful Captain appears every Halloween to cause mischief in the town.
