Ugh, I don't want to but I guess I have to!!

When I get slammed with one migraine after another for several days, the only thing that breaks the cycle is to take steroids for three days. That doesn't sound like a big deal, but the side effects make me NUTS!!! I'm already going through menopause due to having a partial hysterectomy almost 3 years ago, and the steroids amplify my hot flashes and mood swings. The last time I was on them, I flipped out on one of my friends at church, and my husband and kids were ready to have me committed.

The last few days I've been getting hit with one migraine after another and as much as I don't want to, I"m going to have to call my doctor in the morning and get him to call in the Decadron for me. I told my husband that I need to get a hotel room for the next three days while I'm on them, or he and the kids need to move out, for their own safety!

WOW.....I have migraines BUT they are under control for now (knocks on wood). I take Imitrex and that is an older medication BUT it knocks it right out for me

Sounds like you need a completely different medication

I'm sorry...how awful. Imitrex worked for me too. I haven't had a migraine in a few years. I never had to take steroids, but my mom did and she was so embarrassed by some of her flip outs. She said she became fierce. She usually targeted wait staff and sales clerks. Good luck. I hope somehow you feel better without the steroids.

I'm sorry...that sounds just horrible :/
How about you immediately go to a nice hotel for 3 days...one that offers massages and full spa treatment :)

I take Imitrex and it works pretty well but I get stuck in these cycles where I will get a migraine every day for several days ;I'll get rid of it with Imitrex and get another one the next day and so forth. When that happens I have to take the steroids for three days to break the cycle. I've had migraines for 26 years. They suck.

If I could afford it, I would.

There was some confusion on the part of the doctor's office so my script didn't get called in on Monday, and of course the office was closed yesterday. I woke up with ANOTHER migraine this morning, and had to call the office again and it's supposed to get called in today. So now I have the next three days of psychosis to look forward to. Basically, I'm just trading one problem for another, migraines for roid rage and hot flashes.
