Do any of you ladies have experience dealing with alcoholics/people who drink too much and can't stop?  How have you learned to deal with it?

I grew up with alcoholics, they don't binge drink they just can't go without drinking/ they drink on a daily basis.

Anyone ever do Al-Anon as a person who has to deal with one?

No, but I have read many books to try to understand it. I just don't get it. I can't empathize.

Fortunately, I don't have anyone close to me that has a drinking problem.  I had an uncle who was an alcoholic, but I was not close to him.

My Uncle is a recovered Alcohol and Drug addict. There are quite few Alcoholics in my family history. Makes me too scared to drink because I know I have an addictive personality

That's one of the main reasons I cut off all ties with my father...his drinking became too much of a priority in his life.
We had tried interventions, and his response was always "I don't have an alcohol problem, unless I'm out, then it's a problem". It was always a joke to him.

my dad was one ( now deceased) and my brother is one.  tried to help bro with paper work for places to get help and bla bla bla...he left it in my truck twice, won't waste the ink again.  my dad?  he denied everything and all his problems were due to somebody else.  didn't have much to do with him till the last few years and he passed last november.  they have to want the help, being around it all my life makes it completely apparent to me. sorry.
